There is one project I’ve been hesitating to jump into, which is making jeans. I’m not avoiding it because it’s hard, mainly because there are just so many factors to consider, fit, rise, how will it look on the person wearing it and so on. Well I’m happy to say that I finally did it, I made the jump and here is my latest sewing project, my first “real deal” jeans.
Walker Jeans by Momma Quail Patterns
Okay, here is a little bit more information about the Walker Jeans.
The Walker Jeans are a relaxed fit jean pattern with straight and boot leg options. It includes the traditional five-pocket styling, a working fly (with very easy instructions, I mean check out the photo I actually made a functional fly jeans!),
or make one with an adjustable waist with buttonhole elastic, and of course you can also make the shorts option. For both options, the length is a little extra long – which is perfect for those sudden growth spurts!
These jeans are drafted for boys in sizes 12 months to 14 years, but they work great for girls as well.
This pattern is perfect for an intermediate sewist or for an adventurous beginner looking to expand their skills. It includes step-by-step instructions with detailed illustrations and full size pattern pieces. The pattern pieces are in layers so you can save ink by printing just the size you need. The pattern also features no-trim pages sized for both US printers and A4 paper.
I made the straight leg with functional fly, perfect to pair with the Timmy Top (another Momma Quail Pattern).
I didn’t get fancy with the top stitching on the back pockets, but man how awesome looking is this?
When I pulled it out of the sewing machine, I may have squealed and danced a little, it’s not super easy to line everything up and make it look crisp.
